The Earlston Angling Association has access to Brown Trout and Grayling fishing across several mile of the lower Leader water around Earlston. The Brown Trout fishing season runs from 15th March to 30th September. Like many tributaries of the Tweed the trout in the Leader Water are smaller than their counterparts in the Tweed, but are more numerous. Fishing permits are available from the sweet shop in Earlston.
