Applications are invited for the post of Superintendent of Water Bailiffs which will become vacant upon the retirement of the current Superintendent. The main role is the leadership and management of the Water Bailiff team operating in the Tweed District under the auspices of The Scotland Act 1998 (River Tweed) Order 2006, under which the Tweed Water Bailiffs are responsible for the prevention of illegal fishing, the regulation of rod and net fisheries, the removal of in-river nuisances and obstructions, and the control of activities that may affect fish.
This is a hands-on job with minimal office work and working mostly in the field, often outside normal working hours. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record of good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, planning and organisation skills, a good understanding of the countryside and the ability and willingness to work flexibly, often under physically demanding conditions. A full driving licence is essential.
The post will be based at the RTC offices near Melrose and it will be a condition of employment that full time residence is in the Kelso area. Training will be given where required.
This is a law enforcement post and the appointed person will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check and must be able to demonstrate a level of physical capability commensurate to the job.
Competitive salary with pension dependent on experience.
Relocation costs will be available if required.
