Tweed Foundation Launches Fundraising Auction

Bidding has opened for the Tweed Foundation‘s annual fundraising auction which includes over 50 fishing experiences on prime Tweed beats, such as Junction, Birgham Dub, Sprouston, Floors, Rutherford, Mertoun, Dryburgh, with reserves from £50 to £500.

All monies raised will go directly towards supporting the Foundation's work to protect, improve and enhance fish stocks in the River Tweed system.

Its efforts are important in both environmental and economic terms, with the most recent survey showing that the Tweed fishery contributes around £24 million every year to the local economy and provides 513 jobs

Over 100 lots have been generously donated for the auction and they include lots with fishing, lunch and accommodation. Three days fishing on Tweed's famous Junction beat for up to six rods and three days on Mertoun Beat for up to three rods, as well as various fishing experiences across the Tweed Catchment throughout the 2024 season.

A guided sea trout fishing experience on Rutherford beat also features.

In addition, there are Roe Buck and Red Stag stalking experiences, exclusive clay shooting lessons, family days out, original artwork, hampers and bottles of single malt Scotch whisky.

Tweed Foundation director Jamie Stewart said; “Protecting and enhancing fish stocks in the Tweed river catchment is vital, but we require funding from multiple sources. We’re extremely grateful to everyone who has donated.”

Anyone wishing to bid in the auction, which runs until 9pm on Sunday, 17th December, can find further details here or contact anne@rivertweed.org.uk
